What does Orato actually do?

Orato is a speech-coaching app for iPhone. You pick a practice mode (impromptu, defend a topic, three questions, tell a story, elevator pitch, or read aloud), speak for the timed duration, and get on-device coaching on pacing, fillers, vocabulary, and coherence.

Does Orato need an internet connection?

Not for practice. Speech recognition and coaching run on your device. The only thing that requires the internet is Apple's StoreKit, when you purchase or restore a subscription.

What devices does Orato support?

Orato is iPhone-only and requires iOS 18 or later. The on-device coaching uses Apple Intelligence, which is available on iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max and later. On older devices the app still runs but the paywall will indicate Apple Intelligence is required for Pro coaching.

Subscriptions — what's available?

Orato Pro unlocks unlimited sessions across every mode. It's available as:

Free users can try every mode once before subscribing.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Open the iPhone Settings app → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → tap Orato ProCancel Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your Pro access remains active until the end of the current billing period.

How does the billing grace period work?

If a renewal payment fails (for example, an expired card), Apple gives you a short grace period during which Pro access continues to work while Apple retries the payment. Update your payment method in Settings → [Your Name] → Payment & Shipping to resolve it.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find Orato in your purchase history, and request a refund. Apple will decide the refund according to their policy.

I switched iPhones — how do I restore my subscription?

Open Orato, tap any practice mode that shows the paywall, and tap Restore Purchases. As long as you sign in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase, your subscription will reactivate.

Is my voice recorded or uploaded?

Audio is captured only while a session is active, transcribed on your device, and discarded after analysis. Nothing is uploaded. See the privacy policy for details.

Where is my practice history stored?

On your iPhone. If you delete the app, the local history is deleted with it.

The app crashed / something looks wrong.
