Orato is built around on-device processing. The short version: your audio, transcripts, and coaching all stay on your iPhone. We don't operate servers that receive your practice content, we don't run analytics SDKs, and we don't have user accounts.
Plain-English summary. Orato records you while you practise, transcribes the recording on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition, and produces coaching feedback using Apple Intelligence on your device. None of this data is uploaded to us or to any third party. The only network calls Orato makes are to Apple's StoreKit (for subscription purchases) and to Apple's standard system services that exist on every iPhone.
Nothing personal is sent to Orato. Specifically:
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos, advertising identifier, or any other personal information.
You can revoke any of these in your iPhone's Settings → Orato at any time.
Coaching feedback is generated by Apple Intelligence's on-device Foundation Model. The model runs entirely on your iPhone; your transcript and coaching prompt never leave the device. Apple's documentation describes the on-device model in detail.
Orato Pro is sold through the Apple App Store using Apple's StoreKit. When you purchase or restore a subscription, Apple processes the transaction and shares only the receipt-validation data needed to unlock Pro features in the app. We do not see or store your Apple ID, payment method, or billing address. Apple's own privacy policy applies to that transaction.
Orato uses no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs. The only external service involved in normal app use is Apple's StoreKit (for purchases) and standard iOS system frameworks.
Orato is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Because all of your practice data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time:
If you are in the EU/UK and want to exercise GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection), contact support@orato.app. Because we don't hold personal data on a server, most requests are satisfied by deleting the app from your device.
If we change this policy in a material way, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, surface a notice in the app at next launch.
